Heat, humidity and smoke.

Very hot day followed by sudden cooling and smoke as a bush fire burnt out 200 hectares south of Byron bay. Lightening spiked to the ground here and it was easy to understand how some bush fires start. But a happy festive season with Dean’s visit and two days following which saw a stream of visitors here enjoying food from the garden. My gift list included George Monbiot’s “Feral ” and Germaine Greer’s ” White Beech, the rainforest years “.
