HI Don
Thank you for sending the pictures, it is certainly a worry and nasty
for the animals concerned.
This species is a threatened species called Red-Legged Pademelon, they
are rare and numbers are declining unfortunately.
I have sent a copy of this email to our National Parks liaison officer
as I think NPWS will need to know about this, it is a threatened
species and exactly what is happening to them I am not sure. I would
suspect it is chemical involvement of some kind.
If one should pass away please keep the body in the fridge and call us
straight away, we would want to do an autopsy as soon as possible.
Thank you for alerting us to this, please stay in contact and we will
get back to you.
