My friend of 42 years passed away in Fulham, London in May. His sister wrote me a hand written letter. Dated 7th of May, it is the 4th of June. I haven’t emptied my mail box for 3 weeks.
I will miss him and will always cherish his memory……… for being a constant and loving friend regardless of where we each lived. I have a bundle of his letters. We have shared so much over those years….. from music, to literature and to politics of the now.
We meet in a London pub in 1972 and immediately became friends. Visiting each other, from Sydney, to Paris and us meeting up in NY in 1973, to my last three visits to London in 2008, 2012 and 2013..when we spent time together.
Tonight I am celebrating with music we shared, from Soho midnight clubs in the 70s, where we paid an entry fee for a quarter of a sausage and a teaspoon of cole slaw, which fulfilled the licensing board, to then dance all night to Pink Floyd, Nina Simone, Jimi Hendrix, Dusty Springfield, Jackson Browne, Emerson Lake and Palmer.
Thank-you Terry……..I loved every minute I spent with you.
