Dave Rawlins and I worked one lantana season slashing, layering and mulching…. in the area pictured below…. 8 years ago. Now the sun is hotter our work days are back to beneath canopy work in follow -up. So after a year of me not following up, to see what needed removing, I was really happy at the emergent rain forest trees I found this morning.
From red cedars to tamarinds, there are many more in-between. Snail shells and spider webs. Fairy wrens keeping an eye on us. Bower birds excited.
We cut creepers and vines that were grabbing at the edge young trees. Removed the remaining lantana roots we couldn’t get the first time.
A very satisfying mornings work and the bonus getting the gravity water line running again to the cabin…….. after we untangled the storm twisted pipe, it was good to hear the trickle of water into the holding tank.
