THE HIDDEN LIFE OF TREES. Peter Wohlleben.
Over decades, a fungus’s underground cottony web expands. There is a honey fungus in Switzerland that covers almost 120 acres of land and is about 1000 years old. Another in Oregon is estimated to be about 2,400 years old and extends for 2000 acres and weighs approx. 660 tons. That makes fungi the largest living organisms in the world.
Science has found twice the amount of life giving nitrogen and phosphorus in plants that cooperate with their fungal partners than in plants that tap the soils with their roots alone.
So when I heard the Senator David Leyonhjelm, who advocated on RN that all fields should be sprayed with herbicides before planting a crop, I thought what hope has the ecology of our country have.
And when I see strips of land and trees poisoned here in our supposedly more green than others Shire.
