Watching me, as I closed the cabin door, on the water tank pipe, was this beautiful young frogmouth Owl.
Arrived to Jayne’s house at 6 am………..day light by the time I left the gravel road. Kookaburras calling and cattle mooing.
While drinking a coffee a Noisy Pitta flew through the open door into Jayne’s kitchen. It crashed , a loud thud ,into the window facing the opening.
By the time we left for town at 6 30 am it was standing up and the eyes were wide open.
The basket was empty when we returned at 3pm.
I have had a couple of pittas crash into the water tank and die. Rarely have I seen them in the rain forest so to see their beautiful colours up close was the upside of their bad luck.
