Hard to keep up.

The NSW Government has put a price tag on our ancient forests.

Right now they are making plans to open up thousands of hectares of protected old growth forests to logging for timber. NSW’s precious old growth trees are a sanctuary for koalas, long-footed potoroos and many other threatened species.

It’s not too late to keep these forests safe. The government can ditch this disastrous idea, but we need to make some noise to ensure it does.

We’re launching a brand new petition to pressure the NSW Government to protect our ancient forests – can we count on you to sign?

don, this is part of a sustained attack from the NSW Coalition to open up protected areas to logging.

Just this morning Deputy Premier John Barilaro revealed unprecedented plans to remove protection for the Murray Valley National Park, home to NSW’s special river red gum forests and globally significant wetlands. [1]

We’re in a biodiversity crisis, with 1025 species in NSW threatened with extinction. We’re also in a climate crisis. We can turn these crises around, but it’ll require planting and restoring forests, not chopping down what we have left. What’s already protected must stay protected whether it’s our public forests or our national parks.

Sign the petition to save ancient forests from this destruction.

Instead of restoring and preserving our old growth forests and the biodiversity that inhabit them, the government plans to decimate these protected areas with chainsaws.

Four key ministers have the power to stop this in its tracks. If enough of us speak up now, we can show them that the people of NSW won’t stand for protection being stripped and forests destroyed.

Communities fought hard to protect our old growth forests and national parks and won. Now we must fight to keep these forests protected.

We’ll make sure these Ministers hear the voices of people across NSW at every key moment, so that they know we’re watching and we will not let them destroy our forests.

Together we can stop this disastrous logging before it starts.

Please sign the petition today to ensure the government puts a priority on protecting nature.

Thank you for all that you do.

With hope,

Shirley and Ed
