Rain Gauge overflowed.

A day of heavy rain brought down a couple of heavy branches over my  road access and overflowed the rain gauges. But this morning, as the sun tries to break through the remaining cloud, the birds are everywhere with the whip birds darting through the gardens. Finches, yellow breasted robins, honey eaters, kookaburras, currawongs, brown pigeons, wongas, satin bower birds……………..all taking advantage of the abundant insect food source.

The creeks finally getting a flushing.  I wonder where all the poisoned coral trees, which have fallen into the creek over the last 2 years, end up. I cleared a public road causeway of palm fronds blocking the pipes and my causeway of branches. I enjoy doing this chore as the water is freed and the roadways clear of running water.

This morning on the news an item that said its too late for the Great Barrier Reef due to global warming and all the pesticides we pour into the ocean won’t make any difference. What they failed to say, like the particles of plastic now turning up in fish at the fish markets, is the human made chemicals that are proven to be having a massive impact on all marine life.

If there is a chance for evolution to keep pace, its up to us to change our land practices and start to eat what is produce locally, not what is sourced globally.

As well, its about us, as individuals, to cut our energy use.

Rain soaked days mean I listen to radio more and after yesterday, hearing the politicians on energy and Australia selling most of our LPG to overseas buyers, its no wonder the average citizen wonders why we even have politicians when the actual determinations are made by a CEO of a company. Usually too, with the information of what is really happening never getting out to ordinary people.

Fake news indeed and when the bankers rule what little hope is there for the planet’s environment.

Donald,

For the second year in a row, severe coral bleaching has returned to our Great Barrier Reef. Surveys just released by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority show severe bleaching on offshore reefs from Cairns to Ingham – threatening life on the Reef and tourism jobs.

Where is Queensland’s Premier while our Reef is in crisis? In India with Mr Adani, promoting a dirty new coal mine for Queensland.
